Many people who access this site, send me e-mails complaining that there is lacking in information about me in this homepage. So I will present a small abstract of my trajectory in this piece of earth.

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, l948, January, 31st, in the morning (my mother just remember it was in the morning, so, luckily for me, I can neither do my astral map nor know my ascendant or the ascendant of my ascendant).
Already announcing my predisposition for laziness, I had a cesarean birth.

I did all my studies at the "Lycée Français" (French High and Secondary School).

I frequented PUC (Pontificial Catholic University) where I followed the law school until the 3rd year and gave up of everything to study music at the "Instituto Villa Lobos" (IVL) which was located at the old build of UNE (National Union of Students), at Flamengo Beach.

In IVL, I started with the Course of Composition and Conducting however, in the middle of the course, the College suffered a military intervention (this College was too advanced for the models established by that time) and my course has been transformed in Licentiateship in Music. By this time, I formed an ensemble with other students of IVL - Camerata de Santa Tereza- which basal repertory was barroque and vanguard music and I was the bassoonist (a very good one). Some months later and after many good concerts, the ensemble blow-up for absolutely incompatibility of craziness among the musicians.

After a hippie period, when I have been, among other things, tapestry maker, artist (I did engraves) and as soon as I got my degree at the University, I decided to go with Delfina, my wife, to France to study electroacoustic music.

I stayed there, at GMEB - Groupe de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges- studying composition and musical pedagogy, participating in concerts in many European countries and giving lessons at French schools for 2 years, when moving by a foolish feeling that I could do something for music and musical education in Brazil, I came back.
Here, I tried to increase the diffusion and the teaching of electroacustic music (with Delfina and a friend, Rodolfo Caesar) but I did not get anything with Brazilian musical intelligentsia. Despite of the difficulties, we organized a International Electroacoustic Music Festival, in Parque Laje, with the participation of many foreigner compositors and we did three concerts - sold out - at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM). Together with J. C. Barbedo and Rodolfo Caesar, I produced a radio show about eletroacoustic music in Eldorado FM, Globo Radio System. Do not ask me why, but when the program arose interest of sponsors, it has been canceled.

So, I went to work at Roquete Pinto Radio (Governmental Radio), where I produced and presented, together with the great musician and conductor Paulo Moura, a program called "Formaberta" (Openform) concerning music from XX Century however we talked mainly about jazz, passion shared for both of us. Besides, I also produced and presented another program called "XXth Century Music", everything was good enough, from Beatles to Arnold Schoemberg, from Elvis Presley to John Cage.
Good times. No money but great fun. Finally, the direction of the radio changed and all of us, have been fired.

By this moment (l979), I was preparing an electroacoustic show where there would be many images related to the music I was composing. I started a trip with my brother, by car, throughout Brazil to pick up sounds and take photos (with a borrowed camera) to that show and in my home-journey, I was considering the possibility to change music for photography. Much more by governmental departments' disregard towards vanguard music than an uncontrollable passion for photo.

Finally, this same year, I sold my clarinet, instrument I played by this time (not so well), I bought a photographic equipment, some books about photo and laboratory techniques and started to burn films until started as a professional photographer shooting photos to Seis e Meia Project (a very popular music show), produced by Albino Pinheiro.

So, I worked as a photojournalist from l980 from l987.

I took photos for show bill, play bill, and poster to many theater performances.

I collaborated with the cultural supplement called "Folhetim", edited by Folha de São Paulo (one of the most important Brazilian newspapers);

Always as a free-lancer, I worked for a while to Companhia do Vale do Rio Doce, to medical magazine "Diálogo", edited by Roche Laboratory, for the Associação Carioca dos Empresários Teatrais (Rio de Janeiro Association of Theatre Agents), between others.

In l986, I became an associate of Fotossíntese, a photojournalism agency where I had photos published in the main newspapers and magazines of Brazil (Veja, Isto É, Manchete, Jornal do Brasil, Última Hora, Estado de São Paulo, Folha da Tarde, etc).

I participated to some exhibition:

FUNARTE - exhibition and book - The Brazilian middle class - l980
Exhibition and book about recycle during the World Summit - ECO 92
São Conrado Fashion Mall - Rio de Janeiro - l998
Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro - l998
